Car stereo redesign focusing on performance
The Japanese company JVC commissions Giugiaro to redesign its Digifine line of car radios.
BRAND: JVC
MODEL: Digifine
YEAR: 1989
CATEGORY: Technology
DESIGNER: Giorgetto Giugiaro
The work began in 1989 and ended in 1993 and included, in addition to the car radio, audiocassette and CD players, stereo amplifiers, speakers and all related products. Giugiaro's work, given the many technical constraints in terms of size, operating procedures, and international standards, focuses on the organization and visibility of the display so that the controls can be used in any lighting condition. Note the 1990 advertising campaign that associated the Digifine car radio with the recent Aspid concept car designed by Giugiaro.
