4200 Spyder

Maserati
A turning point spider for Maserati
The new Maserati unveiled at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show marked a turning point: new engine, new body, new transmission.

BRAND: Maserati

MODEL: 4200 Spyder

YEAR: 2001

BODY TYPE: Sports car

POWER SUPPLY: Combustion

CATEGORY: Production car

DESIGNER: Fabrizio Giugiaro

With this model, Maserati returned to producing a spider after a seven-year absence from the relevant market. The 4200 Spyder came in two versions, named GT and CambioCorsa. The CambioCorsa was the first Maserati car to mount a gearbox whose technological advances came from Formula 1. The Spyder is derived directly from the 3200 GT, but with a distinct evolution starting with the engine. The styling is also inspired by the previous model, but with a much shorter wheelbase, more appropriate for a two-seater and better suited to make the car more agile in sporty driving. The taillights are also redesigned, starting with a survey of customers in the United States.
