Built on a chassis that was the largest and most powerful front-wheel-drive model of the time, it was first displayed at the 1967 Turin Motor Show. Giugiaro was able to make such a car sleek and streamlined, thanks to a very elongated elliptical design formed by the side lights and the happy connection between the slender pavilion and the powerful truncated tail. Also very successful was the frontal view of the Oldsmobile Thor with the sobriety of the low grille, above which wide eyelids conceal the double headlamps by day.

Introduced at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, the Fiat 850 Vanessa was a prototype designed specifically for a female audience.

There were many design solutions conceived by Giorgetto Giugiaro to respond to what were believed to be the needs of women at that time in history, and to increase the vehicle's livability and comfort.

The most obvious was the side hatch with a "gull-wing" opening to facilitate access for children, who could also take a seat in the folding seat built into the rear seats. But all the glazing proved to be very wide to provide brightness and visibility for driving.

The dashboard also featured special solutions: no hands and counters but only warning lights and illumination, horizontal as is used today, with a large-sized drawer on the driver's side, and a storage compartment that was also oversized.

Again for ease of use and easy access, the front seats could be partially rotated and the gearbox was "assisted" with the hydromatic system.

Finally, externally, the horizontal band at the rear of the car that connected the headlights was noticeable.

Shortly before he acquired Carrozzeria Ghia from Ramfis Trujillo in 1967, Alejandro de Tomaso commissioned the company to build an open two-seat concept on a stretched Vallelunga chassis. The two firms were already familiar to one another as De Tomaso had earlier contracted Ghia to provide bodywork for 50 standard Vallelunga Berlinetta plus a couple of racing-style concepts.

Named after a polar wind from South America, the Pampero was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Fabricated from aluminium and painted red, the Pampero’s nose treatment would heavily influence Giugiaro’s next creation for De Tomaso: the Mangusta. Both cars featured twin headlights mounted inside a full width aperture; those of the Pampero were impractically positioned behind a mesh grille.

Giugiaro lengthened the Vallelunga wheelbase by 1.5 cm to 2,350 mm. The chassis was basically unchanged so the heavy spine frame ran from the front suspension back to the 1500 cc Ford engine. The Pampero was given a low profile bonnet and single piece front bumper upon which the indicator lenses were mounted.

The tail end of the car had much similarity with that of the Fiat 850 spider Giugiaro had designed in his days with Bertone. Interesting were the two air intakes in the front part of the rear fenders. They did not only serve as vents, but also hid the fuel tank filler cap and the handle for opening the rear end of the car. The dashboard was “V” shaped for easy reading of the instruments. Displayed at the Turin Motor Show in November 1966, the Pampero never entered production and remained a one off.

The project was born as early as 1963, when Fiat commissioned Bertone to design a truly habitable 4-seat coupe, a gran turismo for families. The first prototype was completed in November 1964. Giugiaro left Bertone in November 1965 and thus did not participate in the final touches made in the summer of 1966. However, Giugiaro's contribution can be seen in several aspects, most notable among which is the belt-line that extends the entire length of the side and lowers harmoniously beyond the rear wheel arch.

The car was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 1966. It featured a wide front intake, bulbous fenders, a wraparound plexiglas winsdshield and a basket handle rollover hoop with neat engine cooling intakes. The tail was home to a slim full width aperture that housed four rectangular light units.
