The EB218's wheelbase measures 3 m and it has a total length of 5,385 m. This makes the EB 218 longer that the EB 112 by 315 mm. The most notable visual differences between the EB 218 and the EB 112 is a redesigned hood, bumpers and lights. The overall design is far less controversial than the EB 112's "Droopy hatchback-saloon" design and has a much more of a typical saloon shape rather than the EB 112's hatchback shape. The interior design (designed in collaboration with Fabrizio Giugiaro) is very simple yet extremely luxurious, with beige leather seats and a large wooden dashboard which manages to keep all the instruments and vents "composed".

Structure becomes beauty. It is the sum of the knowledge of Giorgetto and Fabrizio which they develop and apply to the chassis with an architectural twist. The key elements are highlighted to the extreme while the panelling in sheet metal is replaced by transparent crystals. The effect is striking. Structura proposes the doors that open from the centre with liveability and generous access favoured by the elimination of the central pillar.

It was more rounded than the previous first generation shape and had a much more fluid design, although both were products of Giorgetto Giugiaro's studio. In the interior, the dashboard was derived from that of the first generation Audi A3.

Its mass production began in the same year and continued until 2023. The Move model was designed and put into production to strengthen Daihatsu Motor Company's position in the kei-car segment, which is the segment of micro-cars using small displacement engines and low kerb weight typical of Japan. The Move model was Daihatsu's response to the Suzuki Wagon R. Fabrizio Giugiaro was responsible for the design of the second version of the Daihatsu Move, which was put on the market starting in 1998. Giugiaro's version is notable for its pursuit of an even more MPV-like shape, which focuses on breadth of space while being very compact in size.
