Glass is the theme throughout the D-Compact X-Over prototype, which features a windshield with flowing lines that continue over the transparent roof, and at the rear drops below the beltline. Seen from the side, the D-Compact X-Over has a simple cross section, but driven by two muscular wings that express the liveliness, dynamism and sportiness of this model in combination with the 17-inch tires. As for the rear design, the light clusters are real poles of attraction. They are positioned behind the glass tailgate, where they add brightness and style to the overall appearance.

This comes after the highly praised front-end styling is also transferred to models already in production, such as the 156 and 147. The production Brera, while retaining the general layout in the original design, takes advantage of the Fiat-GM premium platform shortened in wheelbase from the Alfa 159, which uses a front end with deformable high wishbones and a steel 3-arm Multilink rear end with aluminum hub carriers and telescopic hydraulic dampers and coil springs. The car, homologated as a classic 2+2-seater, features a less extreme powertrain than the prototype version, and replaces the upward-rotating doors with a more classic opening.

Its mass production began in 1995 and continued until 2023. The Move model was designed and put into production to strengthen Daihatsu Motor Company's position in the kei-car segment, which is the segment of micro-cars using small displacement engines and low kerb weight typical of Japan. The fourth-generation Move was introduced in October 2006 and its design was a departure from the boxy look of the previous generations.

The taller front end retains its penetrating qualities. Remaining to overdevelop the height of the new version of the Croma, Giugiaro relies on pronounced overhangs to avoid compromising the elegant balance of masses. The great comfort of the new Croma is certified by the position of the second-row seats, designed at an optimal height above the ground that allows the passenger easy access: there is no need to get in or out, but simply to pull up horizontally.
